The SSI Stress and Rescue course teaches you to spot stress in the water before it becomes a problem, both yours and your buddy’s. You learn to recognize warning signs, prevent accidents, and apply real rescue techniques if something goes wrong.
This isn’t a desk-bound theory course. It combines practical sessions in the pool and in Lanzarote’s open water, where you repeat each skill until it becomes second nature: controlling a panicking diver, tows, exits, first aid. You need to be an Open Water Diver, at least 15 years old, and hold a current CPR or first aid certification.
When you finish, you get the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue certification. It’s not just another card: it’s the step that marks the difference between diving with care and diving knowing exactly what to do if something goes wrong. It’s also a requirement for anyone continuing towards Divemaster.

In 3 days, you go from diving carefully to knowing exactly what to do if something goes wrong.
Before getting in the water, you work through the theory on the MySSI platform, at your own pace. You learn to spot signs of stress, understand what can complicate a dive, and how to prevent a problem before it happens. No rush, no surprise exams.
This is where you start turning theory into something you actually know how to do. You practice self-rescue, helping a buddy in distress, handling equipment problems, and the first rescue techniques. You repeat each skill until it feels natural.
This is where it all comes together. You practice more complete simulations, in real Lanzarote conditions, down to a maximum of 18 metres. This is where you notice the difference: you react with more calm, more order, and less freezing up. SSI instructor by your side at all times, groups of no more than 4 people.
Diving equipment, course materials, and the SSI certification with physical card are all included in the €350.

Where you train to respond to an emergency isn’t a minor detail. The location matters almost as much as the instructor.
Puerto del Carmen offers something unusual for a course like this: varied dive sites close to one another, from sheltered spots where you can practise the first skills calmly, to more open sites that get closer to a real-life situation. The seabed is volcanic, with good visibility most of the year, which helps your instructor keep a close eye on every exercise without ever losing sight of you.
During the dives you'll come across the marine life typical of this part of the Canary Islands: moray eels, rays, parrotfish and, in season, angel sharks. That's not the point of the course, but it's part of what makes training here different from doing it in a pool or in confined water the whole time.
Working depth goes down to 30 metres, although most of the practice happens around 18, giving enough room to work through demanding scenarios without pushing you to the limit of your certification.

No, you start from scratch with rescue techniques. The course is designed for exactly that: learning from the beginning to spot stress, prevent problems, and act safely. You only need to be an Open Water Diver.
It's SSI's first aid course. It covers CPR, using a defibrillator, and providing oxygen. It's offered as a complement because the Rescue course teaches you what to do underwater, while React Right teaches you what to do once you've brought the person out of the water. It costs €100 if you book it together with Rescue.
Not exactly the same course, since they belong to different agencies. But they're at a very similar level with the same goal: preventing problems, staying calm, and responding better underwater. At Pro Dive we teach the SSI Stress and Rescue course.
Yes. If you hold a certification equivalent to Open Water, such as PADI or NAUI, you can take the course with us without any issue. The final certification you receive will be SSI.

Often, yes. We assess it with you before starting and see whether it makes sense to go straight in or whether it's better to ease back in with a refresher dive first.
Within the SSI system, Stress and Rescue is part of the usual path towards Divemaster. You don't need to be aiming for that level for the course to be worthwhile, but if it is your goal, this step already counts towards it.
In Spanish, English and Italian. Our instructors are trilingual, so you can do the entire training in your own language.
No. First aid is covered by the React Right course, which is a separate add-on of €100 if you book it together with Rescue. You need to have that training current before completing Stress and Rescue.
Advanced builds your skills as a diver: depth, navigation, specialties. Rescue builds your ability to respond to an emergency, whether it's yours or a buddy's. They're complementary courses, and there's no need to take them in any particular order beyond having your Open Water.
The course takes 3 full days: it includes skills sessions and three open water dives. It's scheduled around your availability during your stay in Lanzarote.
