The Open Water Diver is the first international recreational scuba diving certification. It allows you to dive independently to 18 metres depth at any dive site in the world, for life.
It is the entry-level diving certification. The one that opens the door to everything else: advanced courses, specialities, guided dives at any dive centre in the world.
At Pro Dive we run it under the SSI programme, one of the most internationally recognised training systems. The certification you receive has permanent validity and is accepted worldwide.
In 3 days you leave Lanzarote with your SSI Open Water Diver certification. Real dives on volcanic reefs, groups of maximum 4 people and zero stress.
The Open Water combines three phases worked progressively. No skipping ahead — each stage prepares the next.
Before entering the water you access the SSI study materials in digital format. Complete it at your own pace, from your phone or computer, in English.
You will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving: underwater physics, physiology, dive planning and safety procedures. Nothing to memorise without context — everything has a direct application in the water.
With the theory covered, we move to the pool or a shallow protected area. Here you practise the core skills: buoyancy control, equipment handling, underwater communication and safety procedures.
The controlled environment allows you to correct, repeat and consolidate each technique before diving in open water. With groups of maximum 4 people, the instructor has real time to focus on you, not the group.
The open water dives are the heart of the course. You will complete a minimum of 4 dives on the seabed of Lanzarote, guided by an SSI instructor with experience in these waters.
From Costa Teguise we have direct access to dive sites suited to training: volcanic rocky reefs, good visibility and marine life characteristic of the Canary Islands. You are not diving just anywhere — you are diving in one of the best learning environments there is.
The Open Water SSI course in Lanzarote includes everything you need to get certified:
e-learning training, confined water practice, dives on the volcanic Atlantic seabed and full SSI certification processing. No hidden costs.
All equipment included. Just show up.
No separate rentals, no surprises in the final price.
In 3 days you leave Lanzarote with your SSI Open Water Diver certification. Real dives on volcanic reefs, groups of maximum 4 people and zero stress.

Salva was giving a good introduction before the dive and explained all important things to consider under water in a calm and understandable way. I felt taken good care of from the very beginning. Under water he was always close by and had a sharp eye that I was doing good. That way I felt very confident and could enjoy the dive in its fullest. Salva also showed me animals under water I would miss, like a sea horse. Overall it was a great experience and I totally would recommend Salva and his school if diving in Lanzarote.Publicado en Chris HoldenTrustindex verifica que la fuente original de la reseña sea Google. What a great experience! Salvatore and Mauro were so patient with my nephews (10 & 11), and showed how knowledgeable and experienced they were with the demonstration and the time in the water. I would highly recommend this company as we all had a great time, and we received all the photos and video the next morning, which we were really happy with! 100% recommend.Publicado en Yuxin TengTrustindex verifica que la fuente original de la reseña sea Google. The minimum age for the SSI Open Water course is 10 years old. Divers under 15 receive the Junior Open Water Diver certification, with depth restrictions of up to 12 metres when diving without a certified adult.
The Open Water course is completed in 3 days. The online theory training can be started before you arrive in Lanzarote, which means more time in the water when you get here.
